Club History

Griffithstown AFC Est 1976

We are a Junior Football League Club, who play football in the Torfaen League. We are situated in the County of Gwent, South Wales, in one of the "Valleys" areas that covers from South to North, Cwmbran, Pontypool to Blaenavon.

The Club, in it's current form, has been running since 1976 and we are pleased to say we still have a few of the founder members still involved with running the club today. All our Committee members, Managers and Coaches are volunteers and give their time freely to encourage the local youngsters to take part in a competitive sporting activity.

We cater for Boys and Girls aged between 6 to 16 years, all play in various age banded leagues, i.e. Under 8's or Under 14's. These groups can be made up with mixed gender sides, however we find that the boys tend to dominate the older age groups, as by this age, most girls have moved on to the more popular Ladies Teams, of which there are a few in our area.

We adhere to the rules and regulations of the Football Association of Wales (FAW) and we are affiliated to the Gwent County Football League. We are a fully accredited Club, all our Managers and Coaches are fully DBS checked and have attended various coaching and first aid courses to enable them to be competent to run their teams.

We are always looking for volunteers to assist with training, match days, fund raising events or even tea making at half time. We encourage the parents to take an active part where at all possible, it all adds to the fun
